Region 5 3A Tiebreaker
Region 5 3A Tiebreaker
Does Anyone know the tiebreaker for this region ? If Marlboro beats Loris. Loris, Dillon, and Marlboro finish in a three way tie for 1st. What decides the seeding? All this Can be avoided if Loris takes care of business.
Re: Region 5 3A Tiebreaker
Not really sure, but past Tie Breakers were if Team (A) beat Team (B), but Team (B) beat Team (C), and then Team (C) turns around & beats Team (A)....it came down to who won by the most points in their win over the other. Maybe in this case State Ranking will also play a huge part. Dillon beat MC by 23pts but Loris beat Dillon by 3pts. Loris will have to seriously ball out and make a statement game against MC to win the Region. But if MC wins against Loris, then Dillon should win 1st place within Region 5, with MC at 2nd and Loris 3rd. But this is just my theory on how this plays out. Either way, Region 5 appears to be the strongest Region in 3AAA Football this year with 3 team being within the Top 6....what a mess we have!!!0

That's a good question. Most people think the SCHSL actually has rules that define these types of things. They don't. The HSL provides a recommended tie-breaking system, but each region determines their own.

Loris only needs to win against MC by 1 point and beat Aynor and they are region Champs. Doesn’t matter by how many points they win by.CATSPROWL wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 12:53 pmNot really sure, but past Tie Breakers were if Team (A) beat Team (B), but Team (B) beat Team (C), and then Team (C) turns around & beats Team (A)....it came down to who won by the most points in their win over the other. Re: Region 5 3A Tiebreaker
If Loris beats MC they will be region champions even if they lose to Aynor. Why? Because Loris beat both Dillon and MC in a head to head contest. The only way Loris can screw this up is by losing to MC. Then Dillon wins region because they beat MC head to head. MC would take 2nd place for beating Loris head to head. Providing they win out. Loris would be 3rd.

Hate to be the one to ruin the fun, but as much shit as I give Loris they are gonna crush Marlboro. MC was so overrated it is laughable. Was at the game last night. Marlboro is not a good football team. More than that they are a soft football team. They were shockingly bad for how much people talked them up. Honestly it looked like half the team didn’t want to be there. Looked like red league ball being coached by guys who play a lot of Madden…most know the type. Anyways, if Loris loses to them then I will say Oceanside will walk away with the lower state title and it won’t be close. 3A lower state may be exciting this year with a lot of average football teams having close games but it isn’t good football being played. And Dillon didn’t blow Marlboro off the field last night even though the score looked like it. They aren’t much better but have 2 backs who run very hard. That’s about all they have.Mbfootballfan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 2:23 pmIf Loris beats MC they will be region champions even if they lose to Aynor. Why? Re: Region 5 3A Tiebreaker
So that game was deceiving. We have alot of firepower. Our QB is 2nd in the area in passing with about 1200-1300 yards passing. We have a monster wideout that runs a 4.3 in #0. He has about 500 yards receiving already. Major D1 athlete. We have many athletes at WR in Number 5, Number 1 and Number 4. Our 2nd back #8 couldn't finish the Marlboro game because of his back so we had to lean heavily on #2(Fling). Our coach just decided because we were gaining yardage just to keep running the ball. and I loved it. No need to get cute and open it up if you don't have to.
