New Classification 2024
I would like to see the State reverse the Classifications. Not sure how much I can type? I have been involved in High School Football for about 60 Years. The football team that I follow will travel about 800 miles for the 10 games. This compares with 278 miles playing local teams. Big expense. The visiting teams bring very few fans and not any students to speak of, not even a band. . Small gate receipts and concessions almost zero. Two teams that we traveled to had very few fans. I would recommend taking away the 3 to 1 ratio for out of district students. I think this was done because of a few private schools? I was in Georgia when this happened in that State. The answer was to make a private school region. Just a quick example for Pickens and Oconee County. A schedule could be Pendleton, Liberty, Westside, BHP, Easley, Seneca, Daniel, Pickens, Walhalla, West Oak, Wren etc. Travel to each game about 20 miles and less. The schools and fans know each other. Baseball, Basketball, soccer, track etc will have to travel during the week. This will be worse than Friday Night Football. The people that made this decision need to travel to these games and see the crowds and the expense involved. Why punish many teams for a few teams? This needs to be reversed before 2025!

Unfortunately nothing makes sense with the SCHSL, and nothing will ever change.Charlie3036 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:18 pmI would like to see the State reverse the Classifications. Can’t say you are not correct. But like the above poster said, the geniuses at the SCHSL always seem to make curious decisions.

Is Daniel, BHP, and Westside beating West Oak by 80 something that really needs to happen? Yeah, the regions suck for the most part. Newberry has had a running clock in 2 of their 3 region games so far this season and won the other game by 4 scores. I HAVEN'T been to more than a half of football all season. Just doesn't appeal to me to go watch some of these games. Newberry vs Fox Creek? I couldn't tell you where Fox Creek even is.Charlie3036 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:18 pmI would like to see the State reverse the Classifications. Not sure how much I can type? But, its the way things are going. All of our games are on the radio, 2 have been live streamed on the internet. IF I can listen/watch from the comfort of my home and not have to deal with the crowds, parking, and spending the money on tickets/gas, why would I go? There was a shooting after the game we had at Fairfield, there was a huge fight outside another game, not something I want to be a part of. Me being there vs being at home is not going to influence how they play. We go to Silver Bluff this week for the region championship, there is no chance I'm making that drive. An hour and a half each way to watch what should be a 1 sided game? No thanks.
