‘I knew it was time’
Roger Lee | Summerville Journal Scene

For the first time in more than 60 years, Summerville High School needs a new head football coach.

During a press conference held late Tuesday morning at the DD2 district office, John McKissick announced he was retiring from his positions as the Green Wave football coach and SHS Athletic Director.

The legendary 88-year-old coach, who has more coaching wins than any other football coach at any level, spent 63 seasons at SHS and retired with 622 wins.
