GEORGETOWN – Georgetown High School won an appeal with the South Carolina High School League Wednesday that will allow the school’s athletics teams ......(excerpt)
I heard there were 8 appeals total to the process. The committee denied all but 2 of the appeals. The schools can appeal to the executive council if they were not satisfied and wanted a second hearing.
Richland NE wanted to move to to Region 5 but that would have made the upper state and lower state unbalanced and the appeal was denied
Chester wanted to switch Region 5 3A with Region 4 3A. This would put their region in the upper state which made sense and place Region 4 in the lower
Georgetown wanted to play with the Myrtle beach schools vs. the Charleston area schools. This was approved.
Allendale Fairfax wanted to play in Class 1A instead of 2A.
Southside Christian which has EVERY ADVANTAGE in the world as a private school wanted to play down a class. I think the committee laughed them out of the room.
I was told that Emerald also appealed but have not confirmed.
The other ones I am not sure about.
