Upstate Games with HUGE Playoff Implications

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Region One
T L Hanna has wins over Woodmont and Mauldin
Hillcrest has win over Mauldin & Non Region Win
Woodmont has win over J L Mann

Hillcrest and Woodmont meet Friday and if Hillcrest wins, the Region will likely be decided when Hillcrest and T L Hanna meet.

Region Two
What a surprise!!! Dorman and Byrnes meet Friday with the winner in the catbird seat for the Region Championship and a week one home game come playoffs. FYI, the loser of this match up is very likely travelling to the Reservation in Week One.
While all the attention will be on Roebuck, Wade Hampton find itself in a rather unique situation.....
AFLAC Trivia question: When was the last time Riverside was a favorite in a Region Football Game?

Region Three
Gaffney looks very much like the team to beat for the Region and I don't see Nation Ford doing anything about that Friday Night; however, the second spot in the playoffs may be decided when Clover and Boiling Springs meet Friday. Doodles has the Bulldogs as a 38 point underdog but I think I'd take the dogs and the points all day and I'm telling you, don't count them dogs out straight up.

Region Four
Week One - Spring Valley beat Rock Hill, Northwestern beat Ridge View
Week Two - Northwestern beat Blythewood, Ridge View beat Spring Valley
So, Northwestern 2-0, Ridge View 1-1, Spring Valley 1-1, Rock Hill 0-1, Blythewood 0-1
In other words, while Northwestern is leading, nothing is really decided after that. This week, Northwestern could almost wrap up the Region Championship with a win over Spring Valley. Rock Hill could still win by winning out as they would then hold the tie breaker over Northwestern.

Very early in the season because of the late start, but with the front loading of the schedule, we are technically at the mid-point of the Region Play with this Friday. With five weeks of Region Play {one non region game mixed in} we are 3 weeks in. Each Region in the upstate will be much clearer after Friday's games. Still a long way to go and things are subject to change, especially in 2020, but the brackets are getting a little easier to project. Below is my first projection, the "H" shows the designated host if two teams with the same Region Finish should meet based on the SCHSL website

1 1 T L Hanna …………. …………. H
4 2 Ridge View ………….
…………. …………. …………. …………. ………….

3 1 Gaffney ………….
2 2 Byrnes ………….

2 1 Dorman ………….
3 2 Boiling Springs ………….
…………. …………. …………. …………. …………. …………. ………….
H
4 1 Northwestern …………. …………. H
1 2 Hillcrest ………….

As far as Clover and Boiling Springs.........this is far from the team Clover putting the field last year. They struggled to beat Ft Mill Friday night. And Fort Mill is not a good football team.
