Female Kickers

Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller makes history as first woman to play in a Power Five college football game

Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller made history on Saturday when she kicked off at the start of the second half against Missouri, making her the first woman to play a snap in a Power Five college football game. Fuller, a starting goalkeeper on the Commodores' SEC championship women's soccer team, joined the football program this week after Vanderbilt lost multiple specialists due to COVID-19 issues.

“I just want to tell all the girls out there that you can do anything you set your mind to.” – Sarah Fuller

Hats off to Vanderbilt, Florida State would have cancelled.

Dillon had a female State Championship kicker at one time. It's not always about distance, accuracy and consistency goes a long way. None of which Dillon had this year, kicking/special teams was horrendous.

TJ Grimsley was the kicker on Dillon's back to back state championship teams in 2008 and 2009. When he finished his record setting career with the Wildcats, the family joked that it was younger sister Tara's turn to keep the family tradition going. It turned out to not be a joke.

Grimsley has stepped in and been one of the steadiest kickers in the area. At one point, she connected on twenty consecutive PAT's. Heading into week 7, she is tied for 4th in the Chevy End Zone Stat Zone with 25 points.

A successful PAT can mean the difference between a win and a loss. Always good to see those officials arms go up. "It's Good!"

She's not worried about it, she has a big line.

Dillon's long list this off season, find a kicker.

good for her and I'm sure she has worked extremely hard to get to where she is (the Vanderbilt young lady), but I'm guessing any female could kick it as far. It was like 20 yards, just saying

Much respect to the girl from Dillion mentioned above....she actually contributed to her team...not so much the girl from Vanderbilt ....my niece who was 1st team Allstate at Indian Land and on soccer scholarship at Lander ...she could have done that... and she might have even hung around to make a saving tackle if need be,instead of immediatly heading to the sideline..to be named SEC player is a disgrace to the SEC imo..

The HEAD had a female kicker as well. She also was a Soccer player. Around 2013 I believe. I say cut them dogs loose and let em' hunt. If a coach determines that someone is good enough to send them into a game, who am I to second guess them. SC, the real SC not cluck yoo, had a blind long snapper a couple of years back. Bravo to Vandercrud for allowing her to play. I am sure that this was her dream. I am concerned for her safety though, as indicated by some people here, that some third rate jerk with no football future, will attempt to purposely injure her. That is why she did the squib kick last week. Her coach was protecting her from idiots with nothing to lose.

I agree Penguin, if she can do the job and earns the spot, have at it!
