Greenwood 35 Emerald 7 Final

Post by GwoodEagle2k1 »

Pretty quick game as both schools run the ball primarily. Emerald had a really good td drive and took it to Greenwood to start the 2nd half. If emerald can stop shooting themselves in the foot they can scare some people. Still a work in progress.

Greenwood did well. The QB had a great game 7-7 passing for 116 yards and 2 Tds. That's pretty good for a running offense. As a team still lots of room for improvement which will come. Had a turnover in the red zone but got away with it because of who we were playing. Gotta cash in on those against the better teams we'll play. Overall I was happy with the effort. Got a really tough one on the road next week. Gotta come to play.

I don't think Emerald is a bad team. The backs ran hard and the line is huge. And they never gave up. If they can have this effort in every game I think they can have a good season. Needs to work on adding a passing attack to go with the option also. Just to keep teams honest.

Congrats to the Eagles.I listened to the game while
watching my 96 Wildcats.Greenwood has a young team
with several players going both ways.this may hurt them
in some games.

We'll be alright. Have 70+ guys on JV if we need to pull someone up.

We played both ways for many years. That doesn't stop Greenwood from winning ballgames.

This is definitely true. On our best teams most of our best players contributed on offense and defense.

Myrtle Beach doesn’t have anyone that has to go both ways. They substitute a lot at times and or use different players at different positions against cupcake teams.

Congratulations to our Eagle bretheren. It is always good to see the traditionally strong teams do well. High School football does have it's cycles, but some teams seem to be able to remain competitive during the down cycle. Greenwood is one of them. Always enjoy seeing them play. Coaching is good, as is their poise and composure.

I am really looking forward to your game this week at Catawba Ridge. Win, or lose, a game like this is helpful come playoff time. Good luck and hoping that we can all stay Rona free.
