Appreciate the effort from Doodles.

I haven't had time to tackle all of realignment yet.
First thing I notice is that Doodles has 42 teams listed in 5A.
According to the SCHSL Reclassification Realignment, there will be no more than 40 teams in 5A.
Low number is 32, Median is 36, High is 40.

The last few schools and locations could dictate where that number falls.
Thanks.

Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
If Mr. Doodles is correct we know who will
win 1a the next 2 years.with no competition
at all.If it is correct i will go out on a limb and
predict my Wildcats will finish 2nd in the region
or 3rd.

Couldn’t find a meter, but here’s 4 bucks!
Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
I seriously doubt Conway will be in 4A. Conway was 36 last time and enrollment increased 82 students so unless several schools below had dramatic increases or the SCHSL takes less than 40 they will stay 5A. I don’t even know why the league even states they could take as little as 32 because it doesn’t work geographically. That means everyone makes the playoffs. I know it’s not going away but 5A was the dumbest idea they’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot. After years of tweaking the split 4A with bumping up bubble teams to keep out undeserving big 16 teams was the fairest system we had. This 5A system pretty much eliminates at least half the teams from serious contention. There’s always an exception to every rule but it’s almost impossible for anyone below the 20 mark to win it all.

Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
There is no easy way to do this, I've looked at options and tried many times to come up with an idea that I liked, let alone get others to like. The best option that I have come up with is instead of making more classifications is to make less classifications and then split the classifications like they did with 4A for a few years. It gives more options for Regions and schedules during the regular season and then by splitting in the playoffs, you have a more clear path for schools of the same size to play each other in the brackets.Tigerific wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:05 amI seriously doubt Conway will be in 4A. AAA - top 72-80 teams, then split AAA Div I and AAA Div II for playoffs.
AA - Next 80 teams, then split
A - Remaining teams

Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
It’s a perception thing for the SCHSL so I doubt 5A is going away. However the fix that I say go to 52 5A teams and split based on points or some sort of region finish/ at large system. Then take 53 on down however it best works out and just do away with 1A. Basically what we used to have but no 1A. Like I said it’s a perception thing but we all know this state doesn’t need 5 full classes. Notice I said full classes. By splitting 5A/4A whatever they want to call it is two classes. All they did was force at 25 schools to play in a class they had no chance to win a state championship especially in football.
Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
You're right it's not just that easy to do and not everyone is going to like it regardless of what's done. Here's what I came up with, knowing that I will catch flack for but here we go!Rebel-Fan-74 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 10:01 amThere is no easy way to do this, I've looked at options and tried many times to come up with an idea that I liked, let alone get others to like. Based off the current SCHSL Regions:
There are a total of 219 teams
If you remove all Private, Charter, Magnet schools, along with those that do not participate in all sports (i.e. football), which is a total of 27 schools, the new total comes to 192 Schools for the SCHSL.
In keeping with the 5A System @ 192 Schools:
5A-now has 40 schools-----8 Regions with 5 teams in each
4A-now has 38 schools-----8 Regions with 5 teams in six regions; 2 regions have 4 teams
3A-now has 38 schools-----8 Regions with 5 teams in six regions; 2 regions have 4 teams
2A-now has 38 schools-----8 Regions with 5 teams in six regions; 2 regions have 4 teams
1A-now has 38 schools-----8 Regions with 5 teams in six regions; 2 regions have 4 teams
Restructure the playoff format from traditional 1-4 seeding to: the Top 3 region teams advancing to the playoffs, with each Region Champ receiving a Bye Week in Round 1.

Region 6-3rd place @ Region 8-2nd place=Game 2
Region 7-3rd place @ Region 5-2nd place=Game 3

Round 4
Upper State Championship -----------------1A & 2A (Saturday) @ Anderson University
Game 10 Winner vs. Game 11 Winner----3A & 4A (Saturday); 5A (Friday) @ Clemson University
Lower State Championship -----------------1A & 2A (Saturday) @ Charleston Southern University
Game 10 Winner vs. Game 11 Winner----3A & 4A (Saturday); 5A (Friday) @ The Citadel
Round 5
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP----------------------------------------1A & 2A (Saturday) @ Benedict College
Upper State Champion vs Lower State Champion---------3A & 4A (Saturday); 5A (Friday) @ The University of South Carolina
I like how basketball makes that Upper & Lower State atmosphere even more special being hosted at a college or other big venue. I know USC charges way too much, so maybe another site could be used for that one. However, this spreads the love around to lower upper and middle regions of the state.

Re: POSSIBLE RELIGNMENT FROM MR DOODLES FOR YOUR TASTE
I don't see South Florence or Legion Collegiate on the list.
And as has already been mentioned, the target number was 36 with 4 additional possible schools.

I agree and you could add Furman, Coastal, Wofford, SC State, and others to the listWhoDat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:45 pmI like how basketball makes that Upper & Lower State atmosphere even more special being hosted at a college or other big venue.
