Coach Dean Boyd of York High announced the inaugural Bill Pate White Rose Memorial Football Classic yesterday to be played on August 12th at York High stadium.

Laurens and Fort Mill
Providence and Blythewood
Providence Day and Clover
Clinton and York
Coach Pate was the only coach in the rich history of York High football to win a state title in 1986 against Strom Thurmond. York had been runner-up in state title games in 1960 (Berkeley) and 1963 (Saluda) before Coach Pate's Cougars brought home the gold. York native Bobby Carroll took York to the state title game in 2014 but the Cougars lost to Spartanburg.
