As of last week, we don't even leave the city of Goose Creek until the weekend of champions if it works out this way.

Spartanburg's the team on the line... Division One or Division Two. The game that may make the difference ---- West Florence -vs- Carolina Forest. If CF picks up that win and then beats Conway, they could be the #3 automatic bid from Region VI and push the Vikings to Division Two.

Reb has brought up a great game, I'd be nervous to call this one... If WF doesnt show up like they did against Sumter, CF could squeek out a win and a win against Conway isn't too far of a stretch (sorry Tigerific)

Kids have about given up this year. 1-10 is a real possibility and I hate that the young sophomores which are the most talented have not been able to get any success as the season has progressed. Young talent or not it's going to be tough to overcome mentally next year as that's the other half of the battle. I have said we needed to play the projected lineup for next year from now on but the JV kids have a very good chance to go undefeated and I think it's important for them to continue to win and hopefully carry that attitude over to varsity next year.

With Hillcrest and Dutch Fork both having a max of 36.5 possible points with markoffs and Summerville having a max possible of 38, how do they end up as a 4th seed if they win out? Now, I "believe" this answer may be due to the fact that the max is simply that a max and not necessarily what where they will end up. I know Summerville's max will start to decline as Big 16 teams such as Wando and AR fall from the list of teams which could possible end the season with a winning record. West Ashley looks like they could and should get there when they play Cane Bay. They have Stratford(nope), Goose Creek(nope) and Cane Bay(probably) remaining and need one more win to reach 6. Ashley Ridge has 3 wins with 3 games remaining against Beaufort, Summerville and FD. They will not reach 6 wins. FD has 5 wins and has Bluffton, Beaufort and AR remaining. They should get there this weekend against Bluffton. Last Wando has 3 wins with Goose Creek, Cane Bay and Sumter remaining. They will lose to GC this weekend and be eliminated from the 6 win discussion.

In summary, West Ashley, Fort D, Summerville will be the Big 16 schools with winning records at the end of the season IMO and AR and Wando will not get to 6 wins. Therefore Summerville's Max possible points should drop from 38 to 37(losing the two 0.5 points for Wando and AR). With 37 points, this would still be higher than the current possible max for Hillcrest and DF of 36.5. How are we not a projected #2 seed? R74 in your projection, which lower state Big 16 schools do you show ending the season with a winning record?

Correct. Summerville's Max Points is 38, but
Berkeley needs to win 2 more games to change your pts from 3 to 4 for that game,
SLICKERS boys will need to help you out.
Berkeley has O-W (7-1) and Hilton Head (7-1) left. :(

And as you stated...
Ashley Ridge, Wando, West Ashley and Fort D will have to have a winning record for the +0.5 for all of those games.
AR & Wando aren't likely to get to 6 wins.
Leaving Summerville at 36 pts.

Half pt less than what Hillcrest and Dutch Fork can achieve.
Mauldin will determine if Hillcrest gets the extra 0.5 to pass Summerville.

Keep in mind that Dutch Fork still has to play Lexington and North Augusta.
Two teams that are capable of beating them.

Thanks EHS! Dang Slick's team is going to be our downfall. The Stags will not beat OW or HH and end the regular season at 4-6 IMO. This is EXACTLY why the Stags should be dropped from our schedule. We should do like most of the other area 4A schools have done and schedule a midlands Big16/4A school. Berkeley will more than likely be the reason Summerville is a #4 seed instead of a #2 seed. I know we have had Berkeley on the schedule for many, many years but for the Coach Brown era, it did not hurt us because the Stags ended the season with a winning record EVERY year. With the current staff, the Stags have never had a winning record and will likely not have one again this season. Even if the Stags had a winning record, I would still rather see Summerville play a Big 16 school with the possibility of earning the extra 1/2 point instead of the possibility of losing a full point. All together that is a 1.5 point swing which is HUGE for playoff seeding. I know there is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season but I would much rather be playing at home through the playoffs instead of having to possibly travel to Byrnes in the semis(just looking at the possibilities).

It could be your throw away game, remember you get two....

BTW....thanks for the 1/2 point Mike.

A 2 or 3 seed would be nice and is probably the best way to get to cola.
But after the way the last 3 season's have gone , i would be more than happy to make a thanksgiving trip to Byrnes.

We need to drop BERKLEY and pick up a team that has a chance at a winning record .

Oh, I know. I would be excited just to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs after the last couple seasons. The goal at the beginning of the season for Summerville is to win a state championship. Plain and simple. Why not give our team the best chance of reaching that goal by putting together a schedule which will allow them to play at home versus hitting the roads? I know that had we not lost the two games we would not have to worry about it but we did lose those games. You can not win them all every year. But what we can do every year is put together a schedule which will give Summerville the best chance to make it back to Columbia. Playing 3A schools is simply not the best plan due to the requirement that the school has to end the season with a winning record just to get 4 playoff points. We would have been better off playing a Big 16 school such as Dutch Fork, Spring Vally, Sumter or Carolina Forest. Heck we could have played Dutch Fork and lost to them and received 3.5 points which is 0.5 points more than we will receive beating Berkeley(3 points with a losing end of season record). Even with the loss, that would put us in a tie at 36.5 with DF and Hillcrest for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place seeds. Instead, we are looking squarely at 36 points in all likelyhood. So GO STAGS! They need to win at least one of the next two regular season games and then the first playoff game to get a winning record OR win both of the last two games of the regular season against 7-1 OW and 7-1 HH(ain't gonna happen).
