I just downloaded the most recent 45-day Headcount numbers, I think they'll be the best indication of what the 135ADM will look like. I allocated all the 9th graders at middle schools and freshman academies to the appropriate HS.
https://ed.sc.gov/data/student-counts/S ... counts.cfm" target="_blank
The wildcard remains the allocation of students at some Charter Schools. Depending on how many more students they get, Irmo or James Island could move from 4A to 5A, which could move Lugoff-Elgin and Riverside down to 4A.

Re: Realignment proposals?
I found this on another board.
I actually like that it has 8 teams per region. Cuts down on scheduling issues.

REGION TWO - Dorman, Spartanburg, Clover, Rock Hill, Northwestern, Fort Mill, Nation Ford, Gaffney
REGION THREE - Spring Valley, White Knoll, Dutch Fork, Blythewood, River Bluff, Lexington, Sumter, West Florence
REGION FOUR -Carolina Forest, Wando, Summerville, Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester, Goose Creek, Stratford, West Ashley
CLASS 4-A
REGION ONE - Greenwood, Laurens, Westside, Wade Hampton (G), Riverside, Eastside, Greenville, Pickens

Re: Realignment proposals?
The way the Horry County School Board throws money around travel expenses shouldn't be a problem around here.SF Band dad wrote:...but travel goes through the roof.Go Tigers wrote:I found this on another board.

Re: Realignment proposals?
I made the cut at 42, giving me 6 Regions with 7 Teams each (one Bye team each week of Region Play) and if you manage it, find someone else and play that week or take the Bye. I moved three teams from 4A to 5A to balance the regions somewhat. There will always be issues, and no proposal will cover every situation...

Re: Realignment proposals?
SCHSL expanding to five classifications
Lou Bezjak | Morning News | SCNow.com
COLUMBIA, S.C. — For the first time since 1968, the South Carolina High School League is expanding classifications. <snip>
Singleton said the final 135-day enrollment numbers for each school won’t be available to him until next month and that is when he can sit down with his staff and discuss what the cutoff number will be for each class and region setup.
In past realignments, the SCHSL tried to keep an even amount of teams per classification. That won’t be the case this time.
“We need it to be as geographically friendly as possible,” Singleton said. “We want to have an even number of schools in each region and schools from the same district in the same region and keep rivalries in tact. We want something that makes sense.”
Singleton hopes to have a rough outline of regions and which teams will fit in which classes by mid-August. <snip>

Re: Realignment proposals?
I'm not crazy about having odd sized regions, it makes scheduling harder for all sports, but those regions look pretty darn good. It looks like Sumter is the only school getting hosed on travel, but that's no different from any other proposal I've seen. Sumter always ends up with Myrtle Beach or Charleston area schools.Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:I made the cut at 42, giving me 6 Regions with 7 Teams each

Re: Realignment proposals?
Sumter would always prefer to be in a region with Columbia area schools, but we have a great fan base and great boosters. The fans will travel. The band will travel. We are just in no man's land. The closest 4A (or 5A) schools are West Florence, South Florence, Lugoff Elgin, and Spring Valley...all 45 min to an hour away. I love it though. Road games actually feel like road games. I suppose we could redraw lines and allocate about 700 students to Crestwood and Lakewood, drop down to 4A, and remain in the Pee Dee. It will never happen though. Crestwood and Lakewood are around max capacity. Sumter High can probably take another 500 students.

Re: Realignment proposals?
...and if the Flo districts ever consolidated we could have four 4A schools instead of two 4A, two 3A, a 2A and two 1A.
