Spartanburg vs Polk County
Spartanburg looked ok against a far less superior team. Spartanburg looked like they had some size and some speed their QB looked pretty decent. Defense looked ok but I don't know if they are a force to reckoned with this year yet. Spartanburg won 27-0
Byrnes vs Erwin (NC)
Byrnes offense looked to be in mid season for which is scary if you are on their schedule. Defense looked like it had some work to do, I think Byrnes is the front runner in winning the region and the title this year. They won 48-20
Gaffney vs Woodruff
Gaffney looked good on offense didn't really do but one thing and that was let hyleck run with it. I would say he probaly had atleast 150 yards on the ground and probably 200 in all purpose yards. Defense has a lot of work to do but we should be ok as the season progresses. I look forward to it and am excited and thankful it is here. Gaffney won 36-35 by goin for a 2 point conversion with about 2 minutes left to go in the 2nd quarter. Woodruff looked very good as well on offense the kid #8 will be a playmaker for them for sure and the #5 kid is a shaky back he has all kinds of moves.

Re: Border Showcase Jamboree
Out of the total Byrnes team, the D was the one spot that seemed to need some fine tuning. It was that they did awful but giving up 26 pts is a lot for a Rebel D, I just keep in mind that Erwin wasn't prepared for & a team we had never seen so I give them credit for making some plays against us to score those points.
It will be very interesting to see how well they play against a team they are preparing for in Apopka this Saturday on ESPN, Apopka is the defending 8A state champs from Fla, so Im assuming they will be better than Erwin, so that D better be ready LOL!!
Keep in mind that the Rebel D did have a pick 6 & a forced fumble against Erwin so there were some bright spots for them & I expect them to continue to get better as they learn Coach Dixons defensive schemes as the year moves forward.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

They don't already know the defensive schemes? Doesn't D5 issue all boys their first playbook in 2nd or 3rd grade?
