nobody coaching at sumter has competed against the upstate consistently in my 40 years on this earth. they ran alot of shotgun rpos in the game i saw this season. there are only just a few coaches coaching in sc right now that id want hodge at chapman, knotts (probably both unrealistic), greg porter at greenville and greg lawson but its probably all a moot point if coach jones is forced out people complain about the gaffney good ol’ boy system but this seems like the sumter good ol’ boy system moving into gaffney with the new super and county ad coming from there, if the rumors of it being a done deal are true. the super made the new countywide ad position even though gaffney high athletics budget deficit was more than $300,000 in the red at the end of the 2018-2019 school year and blacksburg highs athletics budget was more than $100,000 in the red. it doesnt take a genius to see something fishy is definitely going on behind closed doors here. im afraid if they get rid of coach jones things will only get worse, im really scared for gaffney high football right now and wonder if it will ever be the same as it once was. im willing to give him a chance but all we can do is hope coach barnes is the answer like he was for crest winning multiple state championships there.
