JUST POSTED THIS ON MY BIRTHDAY POST, BUT IT SAYS SO MUCH FROM THE GREATFUL DEAD, FOR YOU VAMP IN CASE YOU MISS IT ELSE WHERE, LOVE YOUR CRAZY SPIRIT MY DORMAN FRIEND
Truckin' got my chips cashed in, keep truckin', like the do-dah man
Together, more or less in line, just keep truckin' on
Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street
Chicago, New York, Detroit and it's all on the same street
Your typical city involved in a typical daydream
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings
Dallas, got a soft machine; Houston, too close to New Orleans
New York's got the ways and means; but just won't let you be, oh no
Most of the cats that you meet on the streets speak of true love
Most of the time they're sittin' and cryin' at home
One of these days they know they better get goin'
Out of the door and down on the streets all alone
Truckin', like the do-dah man Once told me "You've got to play your hand"
Sometimes your cards ain't worth a dime, if you don't lay'em down
Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been
What in the world ever became of sweet Jane?
She lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same
Livin' on reds, vitamin C, and cocaine
All a friend can say is "Ain't it a shame?"
Truckin', up to Buffalo Been thinkin', you got to mellow slow
Takes time, you pick a place to go, and just keep truckin' on
Sittin' and starin' out of the hotel window
Got a tip they're gonna kick the door in again
I'd like to get some sleep before I travel
But if you got a warrant, I guess you're gonna come in
Busted, down on Bourbon Street, set up, like a bowlin' pin
Knocked down, it get's to wearin' thin They just won't let you be, oh no
You're sick of hangin' around and you'd like to travel
Get tired of travelin' and you want to settle down
I guess they can't revoke your soul for tryin'
Get out of the door and light out and look all around
Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been
Truckin', I'm a goin' home Whoa whoa baby, back where I belong
Back home, sit down and patch my bones, and get back truckin' on

Re: OT: Music Thread
Being that Dillon's Mascot is the Wildcats, I always liked Quiet Riot's "Cum On Feel The Noize ".DeCav wrote:This is true! Randy Rhoades started Quiet Riot but ironically they didn't take off until he died. I agree the harmonics that Zakk rips are just FN sick!! I dated a girl in high school who thought the guitar in that song oozed sex.
Always thought it would be a good stadium hype song.

Cum on feel the noize
Girls rock your boys
We get wild, wild, wild
Wild, wild, wild
Actually made a highlight video back in Dillon's 4A years to AC/DC's Back in Black. Wow! 26 years ago.
The Defense those years earned the Moniker "Nasty Cats". Area TV news sports anchors nicknamed the team.
They were Nasty! In White Too.

Re: OT: Music Thread
Here's a music story I love to tell...
Listening to Simply Red btw Slick.
I wept openly.
About twenty years ago when i first joined Napster I was searching "Van Halen" files and came across one of the oddest things I'd seen...
"Roger Waters/Eddie Van Halen Lost Boys Callling"
I downloaded the song and listened to it. Great song! Listened many times to it never really wondering what the origins of the song were.
A year later my brother came over and played me this incredible tune on the computer...
I downloaded that one also!
One night I looked up this Fillipa Giordano on Amazon and found to my amazement her CD had 1000's of reviews and the average was 5 full stars. I listened through several samples and then bought the CD.
Towards the end of the CD, this song came on....
And I immediately knew the melody and started to sing the words but could not for the life of me remember where I knew the song from.
An hour later it finally clicked and I listened to the Roger Waters version again.
Now I was extremely curious....what was this song that was recorded by Eddie Van Halen, Roger Waters, and this hot Italian opera singer. What is the origin story of this song???
Well there is another rather famous artist who actually created the song. He wrote the music and gave the music to Roger Waters who added lyrics and brought in Eddie Van Halen to play guitar.
The composer is Ennio Morricone who is most famously known for the sphaghetti western gunslinger music scapes...
Anyway they adapted a book into a movie about a man born on a cruise ship and abandoned by his mother.
He grows up and learns to play piano in the ballroom. He never steps on land his entire life. One day while cutting a record on the ship he sees the love of his life.
The night he meets his best friend....
And the incredible piano duel that is a 4 dimensional chess game the protagonist plays on Jelly Roll Morton.
This film won a Golden Globe for best picture and has some of the most unique story telling anywhere to be found and the message at the end of the movie...well I had to watch it 4 times before I got it.
The message at the end of the movie is incredible.
We all have our ambitions. Do we live up to our potential? Do we live or just exist? Do we each have our own cruise ship that we feel safe on? When you are gone will you have lived the best versioin of your life? Or are you afraid to fail or maybe even afraid to succeed?

RC, I think we have some common ground.
This one is breathless....
I first saw this guy at the Merlefest when he was 16. I'm sure many of you know Chris Thile. He's now the host of Prairie Home companion and is probably the fastest mandolin player I've ever heard.
HEY!
Speaking of train songs!!!!!!!!
