Not gonna work

Post by MrFootball68 »

spoke to a coaching buddy and he said we will be lucky to ever play the first game. He said each team has kids already in quarantine. Schools have been open between 2 days and a week and this is going on.

Send kids home and postpone fb before it is too late.

I fear that you may be right. And I say that because of not only the possible loss of a football season, but the implications that these findings represent with regards to entire communities. I fear that too many people are lowering their guard prematurely, leading to the continued transmission of this disease. Proven methods of reducing that have been met with political scorn and misinformation. I have to think back to what could have been had the April and May rush to reopen the country for purely monetary reasons, been postponed for 2 additional months so that the disease could have been further reduced. Now, the monetary losses are being compounded by completely unnecessary loss of human life and long term medical conditions. Had people used common sense instead of following the words of a clown, we would have been so much better off.

It will be fine. You won't hear about it again after the Election. I am just shocked to see the CDC silently posting the truth to the fatalities.

It's getting more and more like we will not have any High School Football this year.

While I don't like the idea, it just seems like there is not an alternative solution. If they do have games, the very limited number of fans will cause issues that no one will have the correct answer for that will not cause even more problems. Who gets tickets and who gets let down? I'm guessing that even if they play that I will not be going to the games. I don't have any connections to the coaches or team that would warrant me to getting on the ticket list.

Football or no football. I just hope that political gamesmanship is not the deciding factor. I am encouraged by what SCISA is doing, but discouraged by reports of high infection rates of returning students. Only viable option may be to have remote learning to reduce the chance of spread, while allowing sports to go on with precautions. The ticket issue will be a problem for some schools, not so much for others. The next couple of weeks will be interesting for sure.

Middle TN (Metro Nashville) has not played any games yet. They have been forced to forfeit the past two weeks' games and the coaches are upset. They (the coaches) have offered up a proposal this week on how they believe they can play but it has not been approved. I went to school at Overton in Nashville growing up and know quite a few people still there that have grandkids playing. That is the word plus a friend Mike Organ who is a sportswriter for the Tennessean newspaper keeps me updated on my old school. Just a little bit of info. I will acknowledge that the other parts of the state are playing fine if it will stop raining on Friday night. They have had bad storms the past two weeks coming through TN and games have been postpone and played on Thursdays and Saturdays.
