Our "D" needed #11 as much as our "O" needed #4.
The team is different with Shaq at the helm. Our Offense can score, our defense is still weak however and needs to improve. I am beginning to see glimmers of hope, but we still have a ways to go to stop teams like NW and Byrnes. Still a lot of time between now and playoff time though and even if we lose to Byrnes we still can finish second in the region, and get another shot at Byrnes on down the line.
Never count out the Indians.
So where does Gaffney go from here?

It's Friday night in the fall, I'm at the reservation. Where else is there?

Just joined scpreptalk and wanted to let you know how refreshing it is to see good honest assessment going on without all the other stuff. This has been a great thread.

I know this sounds crazy but we have a test this week with Mauldin and then we have the showdown at Nixon. WE are on the road the next 2 games and we are goin to need a ton of support and we are goin to have to keep playing like we are to have a chance with either 2 teams. I think our defense is getting better but still not there and our offense is goin the way it should just can't take the foot off the throttle no matter what cause our defense is young we have to have the mentality of hammer down til the clock hits 00:00 in the 4th quarter

Yeah, a team can always use another fast receiver. Our QB is good for his size but he is 5' 8. I imagine even if the O line gave him enough time it'd be hard for him to be in the pocket and get a good view of the field and all the receivers. The thing with JJ is that he's so tall and he catches like he has fly paper on his hands.
Our QB also tends to try and tuck it and run a few seconds too soon. Sometimes there is a player downfield he could hit if he were still looking. At the end of the Dutch Fork game he kept his eyes open longer before crossing the line and threw some great passes. The paper said that Mauldin has a hoss at running back. The Dorman coaches switched to man coverage in the 3rd and threw everyone else at the Mauldin running game and that was about it for the Mauldin offense from there on. The Dorman offense got in a rhythm and put the game out of reach.
How about the Gaffney/Wade Hampton game last night? Anything worthy of note with that?

Re: So where does Gaffney go from here?
We need some help up the middle bad on defense. This is by far the smallest defensive squad I have ever seen from Gaffney but they are giving it all they got aand Eddie will help. Would love to see um put Lemaster in the middle and leave Keefer and DeStaffano on the ends, that would help a little I believe. Not sure we have the recievers this year to make a run at it. People dont realize how good Bevis and Spurlyn were at downfield blocking....we are missing those 2 on offense.
I hope we take it all but Im sticking with my early season prediction. 7-4 best case 6-5 more than likely and a second round playoff exit. PROVE ME WRONG boys!!!!!
