Daniel vs Chester
Daniel vs Chester
Big big game this week in round 1. Chester is coming by and it always is a big game whenever we play these guys. I remember when I was 8 watching Chester come into town and stealing the upperstate championship from us but then the very next year we got the better of them in the playoffs. I know the Cyclones are coming off back to back losses and back to back BYEs to end their season. They have a big QB who likes to run the ball and good running backs but the offense looks out of sync when they try to pass. I hope our guys can pull through and be healthy and ready to travel to Chapman in round 2.
Go Daniel Lions!!

Unless Chester's OL is much better than last year, Daniel will win big. Newberry was able to sack their QB about 10 times in their playoff game last year, and got pressure all night forcing INT's. I'm saying Daniel by at least 4 TD's.stretch wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 5:37 pmBig big game this week in round 1. Chester is coming by and it always is a big game whenever we play these guys. That’s music to my ears. Number 8 for Daniel is Shaqueim Lawson a jr. If the name sounds familiar it’s because he’s the younger brother of Shaq Lawson the pro DL who this week had a strip and score for the Dolphins. Now little brother isn’t as good as big brother was in high school . But he’s close. Not as big but more lean and faster. He’s quite frankly been dominant this year and it’s not been close.
I guarantee if Chester tries to throw and can’t protect he will get home all night long.

Gotta to with the Six Mile/Central crew...DW Daniel wins this one.

Big Dog were you at Newberry when y’all were #1 in the state and Daniel upset the Dawgs in the first round . It’s called the 4th down game because we were 10/10 on fourth down in that game. Y’all were clearly the more talented team and we pulled it out late. I was sitting next to my dad and we were down a Td late and said well I think it’s over . He looked at me and said we got them right where we want them and he was right. We really had no business winning that game or even being in the water downed playoffs that year. Good luck to y’all Friday.

If you are talking about the 2002 playoff game, that was my senior year. That still hurts to this day, and may forever. We beat Union that year in the region and they went on to win state. It was smart of yall to go for every 4th down. We had blocked something like 12 punts, field goals, and extra points in the 2 weeks before the playoffs.Ddub14 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 2:44 pmBig Dog were you at Newberry when y’all were #1 in the state and Daniel upset the Dawgs in the first round . Wow I know it did ! That was an epic game . Y’all were a great team . That’s when union had it rolling.
Re: Daniel vs Chester
Going for it on 4th was always their m o under Sitterle.
Daniel still has the record for most fourth downs attempted and converted in a state championship game. If it was within 2 yards they were going . I remember in 97or 98 we were ahead 10-7 over a tough fort mill team with 3 minutes to go . It was 4th and 1 at the Daniel 12 . They went for it and got it . Took threes knees and won . That was some gutsy stuff.

Yeah, Union was really good that year. Their head coach was on the radio early the week they played us and basically said we weren't good and they would expose our defense, we beat them 22-14. I remember wondering during that playoff game how yall were 6-4. Yall didn't look or play like a 6-4 team.
Re: Daniel vs Chester
Injuries and inconsistent qb play. If it makes you feel any better we went to Lugoff-Elgin the next week and we’re destroying them . It was like 35-7 at half and we were already talking about revenge on union from 99 game. Don’t get me started. Then we came out at half and forgot how to play . Elgin roared back and went for 2 with no time left to beat us 36-35.
