Championship sites announcement (update: sites for each class set)

Post by Fortfor5 »

Spring Valley High School & Benedict College have been announced as the official sites for the South Carolina High School League Football Championships in 2020.
Jerome Singleton wrote:Greetings,
This correspondence is sent to you as an update and announcement of the game sites
for the SCHSL 2020 Football State Championships. After long deliberations and
discussions with the administrators of the venues in consideration, the SC High School
League has agreed to hold the five state championships at the Harry Parone Stadium of
Spring Valley High School and Charlie W. Johnson Stadium of Benedict College.

The games will be held on December 4th & 5th, 2020. The classifications playing at each
site will be decided at a later date.
All COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols as it
relates to spectator attendance will be followed.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and attention to this matter.

That's OK, you will find a spot. Peanut vendors get preferred parking.

Parking should not be an issue as only roughly 3,000 fans will be allowed to attend. (assuming the SCHSL abides by the 25% capacity rule). So, there will be about half of normal attendance for a 50% full regular season game. Also, with the games happening on Friday night and Saturday, the school parking lots should be empty.

If they can't have them at Willy B then I think these 2 sites are pretty good alternatives to have the State Title Games at.

GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!
Beaufort Head Football Coach Bryce Lybrand is 43-26 after his 6th Season at Beaufort

It's been a long time since I was at Spring Valley. We played Ridge View in the second? round of the playoffs and I saw one of the most heartbreaking interceptions I've ever seen. Our QB zipped a ball at the WR and it was tipped, bounced off his hands and to a defender laying on his back.

Published capacity of each stadium:
Charlie W. Johnson Stadium at Benedict College: 11,000. 25% = 2,750
Harry Parone stadium at Spring Valley HS: 12,000. 25% = 3,000

Dorman's capacity looks to be the largest for any HS in the state at 15,200.
