I'll make this recap short before posting the game stats below....
Woodruff really good! Palmetto, really not good.
The Wolverines did what they wanted, when they wanted, and that usually meant cramming the football down Palmetto's throat. As potent as Woodruff's passing game is, they never really tried to establish it. They didn't need too. Palmetto's defense couldn't stop a nun from entering a strip club. The Wolverines rolled up 358 rushing yards and 466 total. 104 of Palmetto's 191 total yards came in the final three minutes of the game when it was already 34-0. The score could have been what we wanted. We head to Wren next week, and they are absolutely beatable, too. They barely eeked one out against a very average Fairfield Central team, 28-26. Tonight's stats are below....

Woodruff at Palmetto stats and recap
And on the eighth day, God created the Woodruff Wolverines
Re: Woodruff at Palmetto stats and recap
Your boys got a tough one coming up next week. Y’all run the ball like you did this week hopefully you’ll be making a trip over to Central. Wren’s a vulnerable team and that was proven tonight only winning by 2 against Fairfield Central.
Go Daniel Lions!!
Re: Woodruff at Palmetto stats and recap
As I predicted in earlier post. Y’all would and should blow them out . Good win but wouldn’t put to much into that win.
Did what you needed to do. Next week should be interesting. Wren put 60 plus on palmetto two weeks ago. Does that mean their better not necessarily. I’m actually surprised the wren fc score was that close. If you can stop the run and play man to man with your corners y’all have a good chance of winning. If you don’t they can score 50 on you. Good luck!

I was honestly surprised it was as close as it was over at Fairfield. I took FFC as not being very good, so either I was wrong, or Wren isn't all that and a bag of chips either. I really think we would win if we played like we did tonight.
What can you tell me about Wren? I know their QB Staples is a big kid, but looking at their stats, it seems they are running the ball more than throwing it this year. Is that accurate? I know they have a really good linebacker in Morrissey and their stud defender is cornerback Shyheim Scotland. At 6'3" 205 that is a HUGE defensive back. No doubt they will stick him on our stud WR Zy Scott. Scott is 6'1" 175 so I would think he would have the speed advantage over Scotland but we will see. What do you think about this game?

Thanks. Our corners are solid, especially #8 who plays both ways. Our defensive line is young, but very talented, and getting better with each game. They bullied Palmetto around tonight up front.Ddub14 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:08 amAs I predicted in earlier post. Y’all would and should blow them out . Staples doesn’t have the arm like the last couple of QB’s they’ve had come through. He manages the game well and make decent throws. But when he came to play us he looked frazzled and just played terrible. The backs can get rolling but if they get stuffed early then they roll over. The biggest thing is don’t let the offense get going early because it will become a blowout in a hurry and you’ll be wondering what the hell just happened. Last season we were up 27-14 with under 5 minutes left and then BOOM it’s 28-27 with a minute left. We still won that game which was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in person but it just shows how much they can beat you when momentum is on their side.
The defense is solid, they in fact were the only side for Wren that scored against my Lions this year. Scotland is a freak athlete that they put anywhere they need him to be at. The biggest flaws in his coverage skills is he gets burnt on double moves and gets caught napping often. Morrisey is a good player he also gets very lost in coverage but he defends the run well. Their corner Morgan is very talented but players get in his head easily and he’ll make mistakes when that happens.
You have to shut down the run first and foremost but also not let Staples gain confidence by allowing easy throws. Because they could easily jump out to a 28-0 lead and that’s nearly impossible to overcome. Then the offense for Woodruff needs to try and set the tone early with plays through the air and then get the running backs in a rhythm. Wren is not as amazing as perceived and is beatable.
