Re: WILDEST ENDING IN ALABAMA STATE HISTORY
That reminds me of the Derrick Ross Northwestern team and their game against RNE in the playoffs at Harry Perone. Some of those games will make you heart bump a few extra times.

A successful on-sides kick followed up by a game-winning field goal to win a state championship. That kid had a day to remember.

Could you please tell me about that game. I was either in the military or just don't remember.

Re: WILDEST ENDING IN ALABAMA STATE HISTORY
It was a wet, sloppy night. The conditions negated the Trojan's best weapon....speed. RNE played an in-the trenches- style and the game was back and forth all night with RNE leading most of the way. The Cavaliers scored late in the game, like 2 minutes or less to play, and took a 7 point lead. NW managed to march the ball down the field and had 1st and goal from like the 9 yard line. Less than 20 seconds left. Derrick Ross threw 3 straight incompletions in the end zone. With 3 seconds left, 4th and goal, RNE blitzed him. He scrambled some and somehow managed to sneak inside the pylon and score as the clock went to zeroes. I was sitting right nest to the NW band, and they were all going crazy, scrambling to get their instruments and play the fight song. Moose called the kicker back to the bench and they lined up to go for the win. RNE blitzed him again, and he threw up a prayer toward the back corner of the endzone. A NW player somehow jumped up in the air and caught it. Game over. A week later I was back in Columbia watching him play Kentrell Jones and Gaffney for the State Championship. That game was like watching a tennis match. Up and down the field they went. NW lost to Gaffney, but they were never out of the game because of the way that they could score at will. Just ran out of time that day. I have never seen another team with that much confidence in the face of adversity. That game highlighted here reminded me of how a team with that much confidence can turn things around in the blink of an eye.
