Albeit young, we do have talent on defense. Unfortunately, we have no one to coach them. No one that can develop a game plan. No one that knows how to make adjustments. The good old boy network is really hurting us.
You can't take a high school kicker, that didn't even do that at the college level and was a disaster as the secondary coach, and promote him to defensive coordinator. Gaffney should be able to attract the best coaches around with the tradition and talent that we have. Instead we hire and promote buddies.
Santa, I have been really good this year................... My list is on the way.

I agree with you Bojack. I sure hope that the powers that be can see what kind of screwed up coaching staff we have. I mean we have an old offensive lineman who is about as a dumb as a cinder block be our OC. I sit in the stands and called every play we were going to run. Its freaking crazy that we freaking let a brilliant mind in Greg Lawson leave because of the good ole boy politics and if I was Dan Jones I would be driving to Laurens today and begging Lawson to come back to Gaffney and then I would go and find a DC from where I have no idea

Re: My Kingdom for a defense.
So would 99% of your high schools in the state. There are no shut-down defenses anymore. Most of the better athletes end up on the offensive side of the ball. Not saying there aren't any great players on defense just no great team defenses out there. Also good DC's are few and far between and even good coaches really are limited by the time and intellectual parameters they are forced to deal with. Your best coaches are head coaches and most of them run the offenses of their respective teams. When good teams meet the games are generally high scoring affairs as both have great offenses. The best defense is the ability to control the other teams opportunities to score by possessing the ball and running the clock not allowing opponents to get into a rhythm. Good luck to your Indians the rest of the way!
