Coach Thomas was all but made to resign. When he was there the program had stability. Numbers sure have dropped off in the program since Bryant took over. Too many getting run out of the program and going to other Aiken county schools and fox creek.
. You're correct about coach Thomas. He was forced out. There were four kids that left and started for South Aiken this past season. If something isn't done quickly, a lot more will leave with a lot going to Silver Bluff. If the right coach isn't brought in our program will have a tough time. I used to go to all the "B" team, ninth grade games, and all JV games. From what I understand we couldn't field a "B" team late in the year because so many kids left the program. It's really sad a school our size having this kind of problem. They best get the right coach this time.

Why would North Augusta hire a coach that has a .567 winning pct and leaves for a new job every 3 years! DUMB!! SMH

That school needs a stable environment and someone who can rebuild the relationship between the community and the school. Hope the booster club isn't involved with this hire like they were with the last one! Total TRAIN WRECK especially when no one will admit why the previous coach resigned!!

NA?
That is where he appears to be headed. Not sure what shape the program is in. Told the DC was fired halfway through the year, and then the HC resigns. And he hadn't been there too long. Was surprised that Thompson resigned when he did. Maybe it is just a hard place to coach. But NA seems like it could be a good place if they get things straightened out. Always seem to have talent.
I agree with what you're both saying. We had some stability in the program with Coach Thomas but certain people weren't happy with him. There were changes made here in 2013 and at the end of the year Pippin and the baseball and basketball coaches all left. Pippin had our program in a great position. Football games were fun to go to before those changes. We had a flyover and game ball drop for the first football game, motorcycles circled the field every game, T shirts shot into the crowd at halftime and a game ball raffled off at every game. After the changes were made all of this stopped. I don't have to guess as to why this happened, I know why! I'm hoping what I've heard about the new coach is wrong. After the above mentioned changes in 2013, NA has been a much more difficult place to coach. Also, the new weight room was named after the booster club president. Why? There are many more deserving people in North Augusta. This was ridiculous. And you can bet the booster club and certain parents were involved in the new coaches selection. Also, the DC was fired mid season. He won't be missed.
First of all the old days of North Augusta and so many of the folks that made such things happen are gone, or uninvolved anymore. When the booster club was hijacked by certain individuals (and you know which one I am talking about) everything went to crap.

The jumbotron receipts were supposed to keep the athletes from ever having to fundraise again and it could have if over half of the money was not spent on cough, cough outside investments/compensation instead of the kids.

The people of NA support like very few in this state and freely give their moral and financial support to all towns teams, but when the financial strings are controlled and leveraged against the program by a booster club president that wants to run it like a college program (and name the weight room after himself instead of other deserving individuals) you have lost focus.

If you want to know where the problems at North Augusta Athletics lay follow the money and a good place to start would be a FOIA from the school district or booster club. It would be really enlightening to know what the club actually spends its money on. $80,000 a year in income from all the sponsors off the jumbotron and before they sell any tickets and the kids are still being forced to fundraise. When was the full membership at the NAYJC been invited to a booster club meeting, and where is a copy of their By-Laws so others can be in charge. Having received an old copy of the bylaws that were about 8-10 years old the President of the BC should have been out of office at least 6 years ago.

Coach Thomas is a very good man but I think there are some issues with him and the administration that hired him. I suspect he is just trying to hang on till his retirement number is achieved. Very thankful that they at least allowed him to continue as AD.

Coach Thomas is a great man and coach. When coach Thomas was there the B-Team had 40-50 kids on it each year. There was over 150+ throughout the entire program. That was one of the reasons supposedly he was let go because the numbers where down in the program. But as you can see that’s lot true. Numbers are way worse from the guy just resigned. Funny how nobody every knows when the booster club is having a meeting to vote on a new BC President. If nobody goes you can’t get voted against.

FACT!! I believe there is more to the story than numbers with players. The school district and others just don't want a lawsuit. Again get smart and follow the money for answers!!

Aiken County is as bad as Greenville County. Why would this KID want to go to such an ungodly place?

I agree. Aiken County puts no emphasis on sports. Greenville County is probably better.

Yeah too political over in the CSRA, especially at NA. That whole region is a joke and has been for a long time. A bunch of thugs.

Harsh words to call a team or teams a bunch of thugs. Since you are a fan of a team that you won't name, please tell us what group of thugs you pull for or are you to ashamed!
