Greenwood is way better than 6 and could win it all. I guess you are just making blind picks.

Greenwood is good indeed. I however like the teams I have ahead of them a little better. Northwestern and Ridgeview were teams that came close to playing for the 5A upper state title last season. South Pointe although they have a new coach they return a wealth of talent. Well Greenville is growing LOL. Myrtle Beach was a young team last season that will be much improved.

This is a random thoughts thread so it's open from everyone to post their top 10s.

Greenwood returns a wealth of talent from a team that could've very well won it last year. SP edged them out late and that team was young. Greenwood has seemingly always been overlooked, even in years that they won the titles. Keep watching.

Greenwood should be 1 or 2 in the 4A rankings. They will see real soon. We return many starters from last year. I like being the underdog. lol

I think RV and NW coming to the mix adds a nice dynamic to 4A. South Pointe is South Pointe and they will always find a way to be near the top. Greenwood is solid, although I think NW and RV would be tough match ups for Gwood for different reasons. NWs offense would be problematic and Gwood's style offense plays to RV's defensive strengths... Curious to see how Irmo has come along as well.

They are just someone's ideas and while they are fun, in actuality, they do not have any bearing on what happens on the field. Like everyone else, I have my ideas and I like to share them (and catch some flack like SCFootballWatcher has in this thread) on the board. For my 4A TOP TEN, I can honestly say that I have at least 5 teams that I think could be listed in the #1 slot:

Greenville
Greenwood
Northwestern
South Pointe
Myrtle Beach

All five would have to be considered as serious threat for the State Championship with what they did last season and what we know about them heading in to the season.

I could also add these teams to my TOP TEN:
South Florence
Hartsville
North Myrtle Beach
West Florence
Westside


Now to put them in order, get out the quarter and let's star flipping heads or tails because that is all I can come up with...

1. Greenville - I've heard they had a really good recruiting offseason but they start with Dorman, TL Hanna and Byrnes, so they have a good chance to show in three weeks that they deserve to be #1, so I'll start them here and should they go 2-1 through this schedule, I might leave them at #1.

2. Greenwood - Again, as mentioned above, they return a lot of talent and they have a chance to prove their ranking is real as they start @ A C Flora, hosting a team I know nothing about, Sandy Creek (GA) and travel to Roebuck to face Dorman. If they are 3-0 after this start, we will know they are for real.

3. Northwestern drops from 5A and was really close to the 5A Upperstate Championship game last season.

4. South Pointe faces a tough non-region schedule: VS Gaffney, AT Rock Hill, VS Mallard Creek, AT Chester, AT South Florence and if they are 5-0 through this part of the schedule they are a contender!

4A is by far the deepest division as far as potential state championship chops are concerned.

I would go
1) Notthwestern beat SP last year
2) SP defending champs
3 South Florence have SP all they could handle last year and injuries were the biggest reason they weren’t in the championship game last year
4) Greenwood liner has the machine going again
5) A C Flora nobody has talked about them at all
Hey they only lost 2 games in 4A the last 2 years
By a combined 2 points . The Townsend kid lone gives
them a chance. Probably top two back in state behind Jarvis Green
6) Myrtle Beach always in the mix
7) Ridgeview went deep in 5A last year and back to their more natural position in 4A . Always loaded with athletes.
8) Greenville It may be true that they’ve added some talent they lost a lot of big time talent. Don’t see them replacing their stars on offense so easily
9) West Florence came on strong at the end of the year out of a treacherous region.
10)Irmo made strides last year including upsetting Flora
They could be dangerous.

Right. And don't sleep on Wilson, those kids have been making good use of their new weight room. Look passed them and you may have a very disappointing night.

1. South Pointe - They're the champs till they ain't the champs...

2. Northwestern - Paige Wofford has them back to normal. Coming from 5A gives them an edge unless they start getting beat....

3. South Florence - a lot of people are being naive about their quarterback. He's good.

4. Ridgeview - I'll show them some love just because they're coming from 5a and they did well.

tie 5. Greenwood - we have everything coming back. Only lost to Dutch Fork and barely lost to South Pointe.

tie 5. Beaufort - I don't know what they have coming back but Bryce Lybrand has that program rolling. They were the state championship runner up last year and are getting zero respect.

7. Greenville - it's absolutely ridiculous that people are ranking them one and two. They haven't done anything on the field to prove that they're worthy of that ranking. Yes they are good no doubt but Greenwood has beaten them two years straight. The only reason they made it to the semi-finals last year is because they got to avoid South Pointe until the fourth round. There I said it. It is what it is. Yeah they hit the high school transfer portal in the offseason. They've had D1 prospects the past 2 years and still couldn't beat Greenwood who was in the process of rebuilding their program with a new coach.

8. Hartsville- I don't know what they have coming back but they made a deep run later in the season last year.

9. Westside - they are big and physical. If they recruit them a quarterback look out.

10. AC Flora - we'll see what they are with the new coach. They've been pretty good for the last few years so I'll definitely give them the edge as far as the top 10 goes.

* Dark Horse - Greer ....... I just have a ton of respect for their program and the pride they take in it. They've had some key players transfer to IMG and whatnot over the years. They were really young last year. Those young players will be more grown up this year. It won't be long before their program is back to standard for them.
