Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
I am not a fan of these posts; however, coach's hot seats are a reality of life at all levels. Three major college programs have already dismissed their coaches and we are at what, week 4?
I have no idea if the coach is on the HOT SEAT or not; but it goes without saying that there are many aspects of the job that are graded to determine if the coach is retained or not. I like what I have seen for the most part from the Rebels this season. Like anything, there are aspects that I have not liked, with our play calling at times as the most questionable aspect. We lack consistency and the ability to make even simple plays at times. Against WF, we didn't complete a pass for big yardage and didn't complete many passes at all. We didn't look comfortable on the offensive side of the ball all night. Credit WF for part of that, but we should have made some adjustments and tried different plays. That final drive is a perfect example of that statement.
Some folks will question the PREVENT DEFENSE or just staying with what had worked for the most part all night or the fact that we only had ten men on the field for the last play? Those are calls made in the heat of the action and could have been right or wrong and in this case, it was wrong. However, those calls do not on their own get you on the HOT SEAT.

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
I am not all that familiar with the goings on at Hilton Head Island HS, but based on his actions, not the kids on the field, if I were B.J. Payne, I would be feeling really warm on my setter.

Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
Can't imagine things cooling off for the staff in Conway. Yes they've won 3 games this season and have a shot to be above 500 for the first time since 2017. But it's smoke and mirror in my opinion.
Hartsville drug Conway to a loss to the tune of 41-17.
Conway beat a young and very inexperienced Myrtle Beach team 33-28. I think Conway was lucky to get MB early before those kids got some playing time. Plus MB had 3 red zone turnovers in the game.
Ashley Ridge, like Hartsville, drug the Tigers to a 23-7 loss. AR physically manhandled the Tigers in this one.
Conway then beats a very down and young (starting several sophomores and freshman) North Myrtle Beach team (33-13) that has 1 win on the season and may not win again this year.
Conway then lost to a young but up and coming Loris Lions team 13-7. A game in which Loris dominated the Tigers in the second half. The Tigers scored on a long busted play in the 4th quarter to make it a closer game.
Then the Tigers were completely dominated by 3A Aynor at homecoming, but got a lucky bounce for a scoop and score fumble to win 15-14.
Aynor out gained the Tigers 276-95 in total offense.
Plus the JV team is 1-9 in their last 10 games.
The Tigers could very well end up 5-5 (remaining schedule St. James, Carolina Forest, Socastee, Sumter) on the season but don't be fooled into thinking they are "turning the preverbal corner". This is a very soft schedule with MB and NMB being down this season.

Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
100% Conway. The seat is past hot. Probably needed a change 2 years ago truthfully. Tiger84 is right though. One thing to note is that Conway is fast and has a lot of talent, but watching the games, you can tell that they are disorganized, run a lot of the same plays not creative on offense and the coaches aren't managing the clock well. With some better coaching, at minimum, they could challenge Sumter and Carolina Forest for the region each year. With my own point expanding off of Tiger84, the schedule is really soft, they have no business playing Aynor and Loris. That is no way to make your football team better. They lost to Loris and should have lost to Aynor. You can tell that the old Conway days of expecting to beat good competition are gone. I hear people bragging about beating Aynor. Nothing against Aynor, but Conway should be beating them handedly. The team really needs a reset or they will continue to be below average. JV has won 2 games since 2020, both vs. Aynor.

“It’s getting HOT IN HERE”

Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
This team has the #1 rated junior QB in the state. Three stud WRs and a bruising RB. They have no offensive game plan.
Offensive points scored the last three weeks
Loris 7
Aynor 8
St James 6
It’s heartbreaking to watch Conway fall from a proud program that is in state contention most years to this point. Please end this nightmare!

Hilton Head figured out a way to lose to Bluffton at home this week. B.J. Payne has to be feeling the sting in his ring about now.

Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
It is sad to see the state of Conway Football. Sky is the limit if they could get some new leadership. Tons of talent.
Re: Coaching Hot Seat 2022
Conway Head Coach Carlton Terry pretty much assured himself of his 5th losing season in row. The Tigers are 3-5 with Socastee and Sumter left to play. Plus continues his streak of being below .500 since 2017! And he hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record in 5 years. When will it END?!?!?!?
