It was a hire, but not sure it was a “big hire” as the thread might suggest. We will see.

I think it was a very good hire and what I'm hearing he is putting together one of the best coaching staffs on any classification! This year will be a building year and reestablishing the Woodruff culture and brand! Next year they will compete and year three they will contend !

After how Adams ran that program into the ground, destroyed morale, and alienated the community, this is good news.

I know Adams seemed to apply for every open job in the state while at Woodruff, if that talk is too be believed, but how did he crash morale and alienate the community in Woodruff?

You could sit at one practice and hear the way he talked to kids to know how he crashed morale. I've heard about kids being called names and chewed out in front of their teammates over anything and everything. Also, has anyone ever realized how much turnover his staffs had and how few coaches (or really young ones) would be on the sideline?

The community was only allowed to interact with the team when it was convenient for him. The kids weren't even allowed to speak to their parents after home games or he would set a timer and a coach would blow a whistle after so many minutes to tell the kids to run into the locker room. After a big deal was made about it, he allowed the kids to see their parents in one corner of the end zone right outside the locker room. I've been going to Woodruff games for years and it has been a tradition for the fans to come down on the field and interact with the team and coaches, he was dead set against it. After Elder left, the team stopped doing community service unless they were going out to sell discount cards to raise money for the program. I could go on and on, but those are 2 of the big ways he alienated the community and you can't do that in a small town and expect to survive.
