When you give the keys to a Ferrari to someone who has only driven a Volkswagen, you get a disaster waiting to happen. Why they hired a coach with a track record of mediocrity and allowed him to ruin a former powerhouse makes zero sense. SAD!!

True, they didn’t hire the best coach they could have hired. But some say the principal did that on purpose as they don’t care for the attention a good ball team receives. But this new guy didn’t start the downfall. It started last year. Saw them play White Knoll in the playoffs last year. I’m not sure WK couldn’t have scored a 100 if they hadn’t called the dogs off

I think there's a combination of things going on right now. Fd has some talented kids but not at the depth they were.it was the same with baseball talent you had
Some talented kids just not from top to bottom in our area. There's was a run of excess talent that ran through 14 to 22 or so. We have some talented kids just not in abundance. More are on the way it looks promising at lower levels .
Plus we have some youth on the team .what talent we have isnt in sinc as a unit. Joyner era then Classes of 18/19 through 22 /23 all moved up together lots of talent.
A lot of trust and geling had came around early. Plus we had a really good qb that was poised to a degree as a freshman had a great arm.
A lot of the 18 undefeated b team skipped jv moved to varsity as a unit.
Not only did they study with coaches they hung out and
Picked apart game film on thier own together.
The defense in that time was huge and fast and very good with several d1 players. Practice was tougher than most games. That and coaching really made us good.
Then we move to part two we lost a lot of coaches.
Raff and charpia to summerville. We overcame that .but it was a chip off the stone.then the laprad debolical. We lose j.still as a assistant big hit.then lose all the laprads steve ,Tyler brent and the support the bring and experience. That's huge so far.
Josh gets interim head coach .then they flat out slapped him in the face he leaves .don't blame him.
They could have retained that staff and moved one up.

My apologies to those I'm missing. They are what's holding it together from total collapse I belive .with out them we are 2-6.
We can build on what we have they just need to learn and put in the work .it's not going to be this year.kids knew the coaches and had trust. new coach will have to earn that back.he has a good athletic secretary that works her tail off. She really puts in the extra hours for the kids. Hats off to Mrs thea O.

He was in at previous schools so I will wait to pass judgment.
Out of the candidates I was told applied it makes no sense from the outside looking in. You had some instate coaches that frankly I don't know how you pass on.unless they declined out of pay .I hear a lot of hearsay. So have to take that with a grain of salt .
Now days you just about have to give up the AD position aswell to lure a top tier coach so the pay is nearer to 6 figures or at it.
Nothing personal to the AD's. That's just how it is.
If you want Knotts or simular you have to come off of that money .dd2 has dropped the ball separating the positions .

This year's team is young in multiple positions. While talented they need experience and some hard work to get there.add that to the loss of appealability to kids whom want to transfer in to play for a good team and coaches. See Summerville qb for example. With out him the last two years they are a different team.

I'm just writing this year up as building year.

We got kids playing both ways. That's a big indication that we are thin on usability with talent or it's not being developed. I don't know which one.
I knew we were going to have a rough time with James island last week /this week. They have a good coach and a good D. We have stall and Summerville. 1-1 .
Next year we will know about the coach for sure.
He's from fla.knows no one so I'm assuming he's winging it until he figures it out. He's going to have to build a staff that is on board with him.

I digress .that's just how I see it.
5 and 5 season lucky they'll make playoffs .

It’s become acceptable and administrators and staff just over look it and cover it up saying you just don’t understand little johnnys situation!! “ He’s really a good kid “ other players see that and know they can get away with it. If you are good enough you can play in a lower state game in November and a state championship game in march even though you haven’t been to school since September. The adults only want to speak positive things instead of being truthful and using the negative things as a chance to teach a hard life lesson!
