Dorman @ Gaffney

Post by racincowboy02 »

Who would've ever thought that a Gaffney Dorman game would not be a top 5 game of the week in the state of South Carolina. Dorman has been on the struggle bus since the retiring of Coach Gutshall and just don't seem like the Dorman of old. Dorman comes into this week 4-3 on the year and 2-2 in the region. Dorman is averaging 16.0 points a game and averaging giving up 25.3 points a game.

Gaffney has not been to crisp on offense and has been struggling to get the offense in gear this season. Gaffney has seemed to struggle a lot more since a the boiling springs game and the QB getting suspended and then the hurricane shutting things down for 2 weeks. I think the Tribe gets it figured out this week and starts to get confidence back and starts to move toward playoff mode. Gaffney is averaging 34.0 points a game and averaging giving up 17.0 points a game on defense. Gaffney is hosting Dorman on homecoming this season as a result in the Eastside ballgame being canceled and not being made up.

I agree, it feels weird thinking Dorman is just not who they used to be the last 10 plus years. This game should not be close, Dorman's offense is just not very good, Gaffney will get it figured out this week and start to fire on all cylinders.

I was a 12 when Gutshall was hired at Dorman and I remember some of the teams before him. The memories of Dorman was driving to where the Home Depot sits now and watching ball games.

The stadium was where Walmart is now and the visitor's side always seemed to be in the dark. It was like 100 watt bulbs compared to floodlights on the home side.

Watched a game in the driving rain almost the entire game there in I think 92 or 93..and yes it was very dark..thankfully the company I worked for had gotten us some pretty nice full length rain poncho’s for earth day that year..my shoes were sloshing ,but it’s a game that sticks in my mind….I wouldn’t do it nowdays if they would even allowed it..do wish I still had that poncho tho..

LOL I feel like an idiot IDK why I said Home Depot I meant the Walmart but I guess its cause the Home Depot is what you see 1st from the road. Man I wish we could go back to those days and watch the football from that time again those were the days of Region II AAAA Big 16

How long do you think they give Morris at Dorman until that seat gets warm? I know he's a Dorman alum. Wonder what the vibes are over in Roebuck.

The folks that I know are (at this time) saying things like:
"He's got to have time to get his system in place"
"The offense and defense is in place at the "C" Team and JV so in a couple of years, we will be running full speed!"

So if they see 7-3 next year I think the seat is going to be comfortable. If they see 6-4 and a first round loss, there will be some grumbling, but only a warm seat. Less, and the seat will be really warm.

After two years anywhere now a days, you have to win! We don't seem to care about "time to install his offense and defense".

Yeah I think you have to give a high school coach at least 4 years to truly see if he can build or sustain a program. Let him get a full freshman class all the way through and see how they progress.
