Abbeville @ Dixie

Post by *Topcat* »

Dixie has 1 win all time vs Abbeville, and, that one was a fluke in 1973. Dixie lost to Whitmire by 20, Abb could have beaten Whitmire 100-0 easily. Abbeville has allowd 0 points to Dixie in last 7 or 8 games played, I believe. Haven't played in over 10 years. Despite the Abb coach taking his ''coaching speak" to new levels, this one is just another blowout waiting to happen. Playing in this Claas A is just no fun at all. I know I am like a broken record but it's really disappointing.

Abbeville is going to win by as much as they want again this week. I feel bad for everybody involved. These other schools can’t compete with Abbeville from a talent or depth perspective, and it’s doing Abbeville a disservice when their starters can play a few series before the game is a massacre.

Yeah Dixie was all hyped up. Even with so many unnecessary flags the couldn't keep them in the game. Topcat Abbeville probably won't be 2AA again. This senior class has more kids in AHS than the next 7yrs. If you haven't attended Wright Middle or Rec league games the long term writing is on the wall 1A. I just hate it for this senior class it was going to be special since thier Rec league days...OAN I've never seen so much law enforcement at a high school game. What did they expect. If you ever been around Abbeville Football program always class act in winning or losing. Way more Hyped up and Let down for their fans because we knew the outcome.

96 game was over at 9 pm .
i listened to Abbeville some
on the way home .Sounded like
they had mostly 9 graders in
the game.Listened to the last
quarter of Emerald game .that
was a good one . speaking of
police at the game . 96 now has
metal detectors you have to through.
At least 8 police officers at the game.
Never thought i would see that at 96.

Yes I found the build up to this game to be comical, just total silliness. This was never going to be a game. I totally understand that numbers are indicating 1A in the future, nothing to be done there as it looks now. However, the League had us in 2A for this year and next. My issue is with certain school administration who appealed and appealed for the drop to 1A this year. We know it's likely coming but why not let it be and let it take it's course? This is a very talented football team that would have been right in the thick of the 2A football playoffs. We could have had some seriously exciting battles against the likes of a B-L rematch, Saluda, Clinton, etc. This move to 1A has totally changed the excitement and interest level of the season. Some good games in our first 4, but, then just a string of basically unwatchable games against some really, really bad teams. We only have 9 reg season games because one of the teams was so bad, they must of just dropped football. Starters playing a quarter and a half and running clock is not what it's about. I feel bad for the players and coaches, they deserved better. Some people made some very bad decisions IMO. That's just me. I don't see a competitive game anywhere in 1A, and, I have looked. Hope the other sports can gain some benefit because this move has put a real damper on the football season, as I see it. It's a shame, it didn't have to be this way.

It's so bad the JVs getting more playing time than starters these days. Seriously. JV only had a few games, none of the small region schools even have JV apparently. It's sad that we are playing in this division. Abbeville vs Calhoun Falls is basically the same as Clemson or SC playing Erskine. It's not even watchable.

The Region we are in has JV teams but only 9th graders. Our JV schedule was totally derailed with the Hurricane. We had Saluda, TL Hanna and Hillcrest slated on JV schedule. Preparing the Future. It's tough Running a Football program under these conditions. Last year was the same way basically JV played 2 Region games rest of the Region forfeit most games. I think Clinton dealing with it this year also
