You are correct that I have shown some negativity, but, it is directed solely at the decision to appeal to drop to 1A this year instead of letting it play out. Nothing else. I have no issue with your comments, I disagree about the difference Regions from AA down to this really bad one we have now. Landrum, Liberty and Chesnee are not great but they are far better than this bunch. Plus I believe we may have been in Region with Clinton too. But you don't even mention the difference in the playoffs, night and day from AA to A. Anyway we can agree to disagree somewhat but no issues with you or your support. I support too but I'm old school and miss the battles we used to have with a number of teams in AA. This Class A will just not be as exciting. It's the truth.Atown97 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:40 pmWasn't directing anything towards you as a person or fan TopCat. There was nothing to them, unwatchable for the most part. Abbeville is not a 1A program, though mathematically I suppose we can claim 1A. I haven't spoken to anyone who was happy playing in this division this year. It was administration who appealed for this. The pride and competitiveness of this program deserves better competition. IMO. We had starters playing a quarter and a half for many games in a row, is that what we want, or what those kids want? I realize that we may be destined for 1A in the future but it didn't have to be this year or next. That said, I never wrote this team off for one second, There was never any doubt this bunch would win the State, none. I don't know who these haters are. The fact that some folks didn't like this move, may have skipped some of these massively mismatched games, doesn't make them haters. I'm happy for the players and coaches on a good year, though it was absolutely totally predictable. The plain truth is, and it's not the players or coaches fault, but, this year was in no way comparable to two years ago whipping Saluda for Upper and OC for the State. The excitement was just lacking. That said, I hope we win 10 in a row, and, we just might.Atown97 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 6:15 pmI'm So So Proud of these Guys. Sounds good but playoffs at comparison this year last year. Columbia 1st rd and CA Johnson brought the same amount of fans I have pictures of both...the rest of the playoffs pretty close besides Newberry last year most money Abbeville made at home besides Westside in 2years.*Topcat* wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 11:43 pmYou are correct that I have shown some negativity, but, it is directed solely at the decision to appeal to drop to 1A this year instead of letting it play out. Re: Abbeville in 2nd place with number 13
1st and 2nd round playoffs are usually not much, though 2nd sometimes is pretty good. I guess my point is, when we get to 3rd round and above, would you rather play let's say, Saluda, B-L, Clinton or are you happy playing Lamar, Lewisville, Blackville-Hilda? I would take the former all day long. 1A is just not as fun and competitive. You can feel it at the games. The crowd at the Lewisville game was decent but nothing like a couple years ago vs Saluda. It's 1A football, it's just not the same.Atown97 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 10:33 amSounds good but playoffs at comparison this year last year.
