Guess there’s about half a chance since 4 of the 9 are OOS..5 if you count Sosebee..Capone is interesting…I still think it’s Littlejohn..doubt the school board wants another fire storm/backlash from the community right now..they have 2 going on alreadyHoodRoad wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:31 pmI only see 9 so I'm missing 1 somewhere...Greerfan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:04 pmDo you think any of the out of state Coaches have a chance at getting the job?
Donnie Littlejohn (Gaffney)
Bryce Smiley (Gaffney)
Andy Capone (Weddington)
Darryl McFadden (Independence)
Jim Sosebee (Crest)
Nick Pelham (White Knoll)
Bret Story (East Gaston)
Valdosta Asst Coach

I think the opposite. It’s the worst kept secret just by reading this site that Pelham and White Knoll is a broken marriage and he wants out badly! If he doesn’t get this job they’re not going to tell him he can’t come back. If WK is smart they will squeeze what they can out of him while they can. He will be coaching somewhere else soon even if it’s not Gaffney! That is just my respectful opinion based on what I’ve seen and read.

I think Capone is the wildcard here.

To update the article his record is 90-9 now with wins at Dutch Fork in 2023 and beating Gaffney in a jamboree at Gaffney in 2021 the year we went 15-0 and won it all beating Dutch Fork for all the marbles. It was a jamboree but both teams were trying to win! Do you know how hard it is to go 90-9 no matter the schedule you play which according to the article is pretty tough! Not to mention he has won three state titles to back it up! ! If Coach Littlejohn gets it I’ll support him. I’ll support whoever gets the job. Gaffney Football is embedded in my DNA too far to do otherwise!

Re: gaffney head coaching search
It's not easy to win that many state championships in today's day in age especially when you're competing against those Charlotte schools, from doing very quick research it seems like he and his teams are consistently good, might be a home run hire for Gaffney.Chief Whoa wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 12:14 amI think he’s the Capone is the wildcard here.

Winning at Dutch Fork sticks out to me as the most impressive, we all know that's no easy task.
Re: gaffney head coaching search
Providence Day Chad Grier was the 10th,,him and the Valdosta State assistant pulled their names before the interviews..the interviews are completed..
It will be cut to 3 next week..The search committee is required to announce those 3 …so they better get it right..
Stay tuned..

I have a question?
Let's play "If you was"
If you was an employer looking to hire a new GM & had 3 potential candidates apply with the following experience
#1 candidate - little to no experience as a GM but several years as ASSISTANT to the GM & currently employed by you
#2 candidate - GM experience with medium to slightly positive results
#3 candidate - Many years GM experience with multiple employer's, highly successful results
Who would you hire & why?

It all depends on how you run your organization. You could be a Jerry Jones/Dallas Cowboys, an Atlanta Braves/Liberty Media, or a Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Sternberg et. al. run organization. All will make a different decision.1CANNON wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:04 pmI have a question?

What is your bottom line? None of us here have ever written that check, so those that do write those checks don't really listen to us.

3 was nc coach of the year in 2023. his record speaks for itself. could hire him get ahead of the curve on the next big genius head coach and a home run hire and the biggest thing to happen to gaffney football ever while his floor is coach strickland level production.
2. was sc coach of the year in 2023. is from the tom knotts coaching tree is by all accounts well respected in the coaching community. took an irrelevant white knoll program and led them to a region title and state title game appearance and perhaps the most impressive thing is he got compliments and an endorsement from knotts who would run the score up on his on daddy if he had the chance.
1. lets call it moderate success as an assistant. a big checkmark points per game wise but the offense bogs down in the playoffs. lets be honest his resume isnt on the same planet as the first two i mentioned and we all know the only reason hed be hired is cherokee county politics and the school board pinching pennies!
