The reason I say Sumter is in comes down to:

1 - I still think they get either the #2 or #3 bid {but nothing is clinched yet}
2 - Worst case I'd say they lose to West Florence and Socastee, so no #2 or #3 bid... they would still be real close to the cut line due to points

And, losses to Dutch Fork and South Florence are not unexpected, Rock Hill (as someone mentioned Jekyll and Hyde this year).

This is a great board to talk football. You never have to read all the BS to find the good stuff. The guys running this board do an excellent job.
SFBANDDAD keeps his finger on the pulse.... his guideline has always been FOOTBALL TALK should far outweight the trash talk.... other than the free for all section. As long as it is on topic, leave it alone until it gets personal (the "Meet me at half time and we will settle it, better yet, meet me now!" kind of stuff goes away real quick like!) He's got a good product here!

First of all - WELCOME and great stuff on your first post. If this is what we can expect from you I hope you post a lot more!
swampfox1 wrote:For region VIII this week will clear up somethings (Or dirty the water some...lol), Summerville is open, Ft. D plays Colleton if Colleton loses to FT then Colleton is 0-2 with Summerville and Bluffton left which makes it hard for them to make the playoffs if they lose either one, Bluffton plays Ashley Ridge if Bluffton wins and then loses the other 3 that makes a 3 way tie for 3rd if AR doesn't win another game. If Ashley Ridge wins that gives them 3rd due to beating Colleton and Bluffton no matter how the last 2 games play out. I don't think Colleton or Bluffton would get an at large bid on points.

Clear as a muddy river, right? Still lot of options since there are only 4 Region Games. Some teams have 7 region games! Region 8 championship is probably determined unless Fort Dorchester completely falls apart. They seem to be Head and Shoulders better than Bluffton and Colleton and I think they will be better than Ashley Ridge as well. Summerville has been up and down, but I don't think Colleton, Ashley Ridge or Bluffton will beat them. Then that gets us to your final bid... Right now, it appears that Ashley Ridge is maybe the favorite. If they beat Bluffton, they should get the #3 bid as they have already beaten CC.
swampfox1 wrote:The question is for Summerville everyone keeps saying they are in at second place. If Ashley Ridge wins Friday that puts them 2-0 and Playing for at least 2nd on Halloween if Summerville beats Colleton next week. On paper you would say Summerville wins but Summerville is like Ashley Ridge you just don't know who is going to show up. Defense might play great and offense struggle, Offense play good and defense struggles. To me if Ashley Ridge wins Friday the Summerville VS Ashley Ridge game means more for how others will be seeded, If I am correct 2nd place in the region gets a first round home game which would mean there would be a few teams seeded different wouldn't it? I agree I think Ashley Ridge has enough points now to get an At-Large bid after last weeks win. If my math is correct and based off what I am seeing If Wando or West Ashley have a winning record thats an extra 1/2 point, but if AR were to lose out the next 3 I have them with 32.5 points (Giving Summerville 6 wins, Either Wando or WA ending up with 6 wins and FT already having a winning record) and 32 points if neither Wando or WA have a winning record.
Those of you who know this point/seeding better then me can hopefully clarify

You pretty much sum it up right there. AR is in control of their own destiny. With a win over Colleton County last week, if they beat Bluffton this week, they are in the playoffs. If they beat Summerville the week following a bye week, they would get at least #2 bid unless some wierd stuff happens and should they win week 11's game with Fort Dorchester, then guess what, they are Region Champions.

Let me just say that points are too far reaching to guess at this point.... but a win this week and points will not be an issue... a loss and it would be very difficult to get an At Large bid unless they beat Summerville or Fort D, which would put them back into contention for #3 bid... so, as Dick Vitale says "JUST WIN BABY"

Thanks Rebel-Fan-74...I am an upstate boy transplanted down in the lowcountry so I might know a little something... :lol: I do agree that Ft. D is the team in the region and its theirs to lose this year. They finally got over that hump with Summerville so now its up to them to hold court. As for Summerville and Ashley Ridge I still say its a toss up. I again think looking at it Summerville has the upper hand with talent, but Ashley Ridge normally plays both Summerville schools tight. With that said again you don't know which AR team will show up they have some talent but just seems to be miss firing with something different each week last week was the best they looked since James Island. I just hope AR takes care of business this week and if so there is a good chance of traveling to the upstate (They don't have any Clocks, Petee's, Carolina joints down here like they do up there and I'm needing a double chili cheese all fries plate right about now...lol) Its hard to believe there are not many games left and I sure hate to miss out on the post season. Your right Just WIN and its all taken care of

I can't think of a time that Gaffney hasn't made the playoffs or was even in the conversation of being out of the playoffs in my days of going to games (1985) is when I started at 5 years old

Well, keep in mind, for most of that time, all sixteen of the BIG 16 made the playoffs....

Great stuff guys! Big applause for SF, EHS, and Reb74. We really need to get this stuff on more people's radar. I think I will start posting links to the projections on Facebook from here on out.
