What resources does Greenwood have that Emerald does not? Other than the Press box.... Which Does nothing for football.

Greenwood has significantly more students athletes and has to make thousands more in ticket/concessions sales on Friday nightsDawgBulleyes wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 1:37 pmWhat resources does Greenwood have that Emerald does not? Other than the Press box.... Which Does nothing for football.

Does all that not come with being a bigger school? Does all that not even out because the people they play are in the same boat? Still does not make sense. You were making it sound like Greenwood gets favoritism... That seems like it would never happen in District 50. Now tell me if i'm right I do not live there, but with a few clicks it seems... Super Abbeville guy, Head Coach Emerald Abbeville guy, AD Emerald Abbeville Guy. Not sure I see where you get Greenwood Gets more.

AHHHH, so we get to the thick of your stance. No Fly Zone wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 1:15 pmIt gets bumped because there's no reason to start another thread.Atown97 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 9:00 amThis post still gets rubbed for 3yrs. Things have changed a lot at Emerald. Just think some fans had them to win 2 games. Tad and staff has changed the mindset at Emerald. Have impacted kids lives in a positive way. The Support has to be ramped up at middle school and JV level to get the trickle down effect. Greenwood county as a Whole is down in Football at all schools in my opinion.
Tad is a great defensive coach and an even better man. I just don't think he's the right guy for the job over there. They need someone that can get into the other parts of the community and bring those kids in.
He inherited a team with a lot of high character kids because the previous regime stopped caring about helping out the kids that were at a crossroads a season or two before he took over. Those kids were all recruited by service academies (and The Citadel) which says a lot about strong character and Tad definitely has a play in that.
Emerald won't separate themselves in 3A if they don't get a portion of their kids off the street and onto the field for all four years. It's what's hurt them the most for pretty much the lifetime of that program. He hired a bunch of good ole boys in plugged them into an environment that does not respond to that - Scruggs found that out pretty quickly with the basketball program.

Re: Tad Dubose hired as Emerald's Head Coach
Until a school culture is fixed, it is hard to fix a football program. Tad has a done a good job, wins are coming more and more, and kids act much better. Now should they have won more, probably. Culture over wins! That is an old school and probably the right way, powers that be don't always let it happen. At Emerald that will not be the problem. Dubose will not be going anywhere any time soon, no matter what happens on the field.

He's not winning more than the last guy though. That's the thing...

Talent wise, this last class was the best he will have in a while.

Emerald is the dream job, you get all the resources Greenwood gets and half the expectations. As long as Tad doesn't do anything dumb off the field he will be there for as long as he wants. Not sure how Old he is or close to retirement, He's had the posistion for over three years so it's raised his retirement check so I guess the rest is gravy
that Greenwood does.
The head coaches get paid well. That's really the only commonality.
The both have turf fields, what three public schools have turf field besides Emerald? Both have Jumbo twins, what 3a program has a scoreboard like emerald? Gwood has the press box because it was donated from someone outside the district. Emerald has a lot of advantages than Gwood has especially since emerald is a 3a program.
