I think the guy you are talking about from Eastside is now a head coach in Idaho. He sells an offensive system much like McManus does.
Yeah, Rich Hargitt. Eastside was really competitive when he was there.

Emerald High School went from average to below average in report card rankings.

I'm not blaming the head coach or the AD for this, but they walk around Greenwood with their chests puffed out talking about how much better the "culture" is within their sports programs now that McMahon is gone. Sure as heck doesn't look like it.

They stink in all of the big sports and their student-athletes are not performing in the classroom.

Time for a change.

I think this is where the ONE SCHOOL DISTRICT for the entire county comes in to play. Spartanburg County is smaller than Greenville County, yet we have 7 districts. With one district, the rules can be very generalized. Having the Football coach as the AD might work at Blue Ridge, but not at Hillcrest, so the rule is good for one, but not the other.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Too large of a district and while I realize sports is not main concern with schools it is a HUGE part of school/community support and spirit.

Has always puzzled me why GCSD schools and not consistently in the top teams in the upstate and that is only thing I can see different. Talent is there

I still think both schools in Greenwood need to consider making a change. They won't though.

Emerald needs a facelift in most sports. Their basketball program will be one of the worst in the 3A as well. Good on them for winning FCA recognition. That doesn't win ball games though, obviously.

I’d imagine Union County head coach gets snipped after the season
