I think you're a little too early on this. Like you said, a lot of dead weight last year. I would give this his true first year. You also have to keep in mind how far down Conway was when he took over. It was going to take a couple of years just to get up to rock bottom. But I do agree he's got to win at least the easy ones this year. Maybe pull out a couple of close ones. If not, then next year will be his hot-seat year. Maybe he can recruit some of these Loris kidsTigerific wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:34 pmI hate to say this in year two but if things don’t change quickly, especially offensively we’re staring down the barrel of 1-21. There’s some winnable games but at this point I have my doubts. It’s unfortunate cause coach is great in the weight room and he got numbers back up the first year. Every coach can’t be a head coach. Seen it many times. Great coordinators but can’t win as a head coach. I’ve been supporting but it’s not looking good. It doesn’t take 4 or 5 years to start winning games. To be a serious contender, yes but not win games. Great head coaches turn it around the first year and improve each year. Usually takes 3 years at least to be a state contender but after two years you know what you got. I do think he was given a raw deal last year by not being allowed to clean house which we needed. He got a few out last year and pretty much all the dead wood is now gone. I hope I’m wrong about the whole situation but I’m not feeling very optimistic at this point. Fingers crossed that the kids get a win this Friday against Cheraw.

Good points. I’m not saying he’s on the hot seat. He’s getting another year regardless of what happens this year. I’m just concerned with the lack of progress on the field. It takes 3 to 4 years to get a program back to championship level but it doesn’t take that long to start winning games. There’s a progression each year usually culminating with a great third year. It takes three years to get 8th graders to varsity and that’s usually the biggest jump in wins. My point was if something doesn’t change offensively we’re going to be behind schedule.

Is Conway really that bad still? I am taking it that Cheraw, NMB, Socastee and St James could be winnable games. I also heard some commentary that after Conway lost to Loris that some experts in Conway said Loris schedule was weak. Conway has a really weak schedule this year, they only play 5A opponents in region. They play 1 4A team, 3 3A teams and 1 2A team on their non region schedule. They really need to schedule up even if they lose and play against the best competition in their classification. I see what they did though, tried to schedule potentially winnable games to get some non region wins.

All of those are winnable games. Which speaking of hot seats, NMB seat is hot as fire I would imagine.Tiger02DE wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 7:47 pmIs Conway really that bad still? NMB and GSF should be open. Wouldn’t be surprised if Socastee is open too.
Re: Waaay too early hot seat thread
NMB fall from grace reminds me of Conways. I hope the Conway coach can figure it out. Back in my day, losing to Aynor, Loris, Socastee and St. James would have been laughable.

It was already hot, I would assume that seat is about to be gone altogether.FBCoach843 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 6:54 amThat coach for the Rebels better find himself a moving company ASAP......
