The Cherokee County School board is too cheap to go out and hire a big time coach. Coach Strickland left because they wouldn't let him replace an assistant who left. To hire someone like Tom Knott's you have to hire his staff also. It will be someone already on the staff unless someone wants to come in on the cheap. Probably Donnie Littlejohn. I know from an inside source, he wants the job bad.
I can assure you that Phil Strickland did not leave Gaffney because of that.

He left because politics got in the way. When you have school board members sticking their noses where they don't belong, because an ex school board member doesn't get his way, it's a recipe for disaster.

It had nothing to do with replacing an assistant coach.
Yep you are exactly right and the bad part is it was a ex superintendent that stuck her nose and raised hell about some of the coaches dipping and they told her very politely to get off their field thats 1 example that I know about that is the reason strickland left

That is incorrect as well. That is the first I've heard of that situation, not saying it did not happen, just that it did not play a factor in Strickland leaving.

Basically, there was an ex school board member, who was getting an abundance of season tickets for free at the old Reservation. When the new stadium was being built, he was told that he would no longer be getting those tickets for free. Soon after, his daughter and daughter-in-law, who were on the school board at the time, started requesting audits on the athletic department, that lasted for a year or so. Strickland was the AD and they tried to tell him that he could not spend any extra money on football and would have to split the athletic department funds evenly across all sports and the marching band.

He put in his resignation the next morning.
I'm glad some people did that and Strickland came to Newberry. We had a fun ride.

If Gaffney doesn’t hire from within, they ought to go hire Pelham at White Knoll. What he has done with a program that was in the tank has been remarkable. If you can’t hire Knotts, hire the next best thing.

I think people are overlooking the top 3 obvious choices....

1. Mikey
2. Slick
3. Dub

Fear The Fox...
Well if I get the job…my first 2 hires will be
CSB as offensive coordinator …he is tight with Kirby Smart at Georgia…he can install that Bulldog offense..he is also a great recruiter…them boys moms just can’t resist

1Cannon as Defensive Coordinator…I heard him and Beamer got together over the Summer and devised the plan that turned Carolina’s defense around this year..our pregame meals will also be on point..

There will also be a position open for Newcat …I know just the job for him..my get back coach..he done saved me from myself one time..lol

Scalpie has a spot also..full time transfer coordinator..he already is doing a great job..

RacinCowboy will also have a spot..he and I go way way back..him and Scalpie will identify the kids in LL and middle school and see that they are developed properly…

With a staff like that Tommy Knotts may retire..

Well is Trump hadn't just called and offered me the Secretary of The Navy, I'd be upset that you didn't mention me!
